Predictably wrong predictions

Hey oh,

So I read an entertaining article on ESPN today, talking about all of the predictions made prior/during the NFL season and how wrong they were, as well as other predictions for things like the economy and awards and what not. So I thought I would do a round of my own predictably wrong predictions for a few things I'm interested in. Here goes.

For the upcoming Oscars:
(Note: I have not seen every film or performance in these categories, but I am close to having seem them all, nonetheless, I'll be making uneducated decisions.)

Best Picture Winner: The Hurt Locker
-Odds are in favor of Avatar, which I hope doesn't get it, but in a perfect world it would go to Inglourious Basterds.

Best Actor: Jeff Bridges
-Almost went wild card here and chose Colin Firth, also would really like to see Clooney get it but he won't, not this year.

Best Actress: Meryl Streep
-Only because I just can't see the academy awarding Sandra Bullock over Meryl, and that winning pretty much every other award does't guarantee you the Oscar, just ask Mickey Rourke.

Best Supporting Actor: Christoph Waltz
-Duh?

Best Supporting Actress: Mo'Nique
-Always a fan of Penelope, not a good enough role for her to win, plus Kendrick and Fermiga weren't as big of scene stealers.

Best Director: Kathryn Bigelow
-Anybody but James Cameron, Avatar is an achievement but just not good enough. And Tarantino is just too weird to win it, they probably fear his acceptance speech.


Okay so there's my Oscar predictions which will probably be wrong. In the vein of NFL predictions, I'll pick next seasons division winners and wild cards for funsies.

North - Green Bay
South - New Orleans
East - New York
West - San Francisco

AFC
North - Baltimore
South - Houston
East - New York
West - San Diego

Wild Cards
NFC
Minnesota & Philadelphia
AFC
Tennessee & Indianapolis

Judge away. They're just predictions for fun. Since no one really reads I won't ask for comments, I'll just continue to think about them on my own. Oy!
