Holy it's almost May Batman!

Hi,

So it's been nearly a month since I've blogged, shame on me, but if I were to place any sort of blame it would go to RiverRun, the 5K/10K benefit race I was on the board of directors for. The event was the 25th, a success, and now I have a chance to catch my breath for a day or two, just before I have to start studying for finals. Blah.

Since I was up to my ears in RiverRun duties to fulfill, I have thoroughly slacked on my extracurricular activities like blogging or watching movies or just about anything. The only movie I've seen in the past few weeks was Date Night, which for Tina Fey and Steve Carell fans will be a delight, if you don't enjoy those two peoples comedy then don't even bother with the film. It's cheeky, silly, predictable, and pretty clean, but still very entertaining. Other than that I haven't really been doing a whole lot. I'm looking forward to some down time come two weeks here. I have been plugging away at the poetry for class, which is still super fun, and have to turn in my final portfolio next week. I'll have to post a couple of poems after I decide what should be read.

So the Lollapalooza lineup is out, and I'm pretty thrilled. The headliners are pretty awesome and the sub-headliners are just as good. Soundgarden is simply going to make that entire weekend for me. I'm hoping that I won't miss out on any of the acts that I'm pining to see, but alas, Lolla has a history of putting me into tough situations. The only way I see Lady Gaga is if she's opposite Green Day, who I've seen twice already. Now, I'll honestly say that I am intrigued by this Lady Gaga character. She's got some uber catchy material and would be someone that might just be entertaining to see live. I feel like I would probably get the same satisfaction from Gaga that I got out of seeing Kanye West at Lolla two years ago.

Oh hey, there's Kanye, cool. Let's go see what Nine Inch Nails are doing.
Oh cool, there's Trent Reznor, let's go see who's in the hammocks.

But the Strokes will be awesome, and I'd love to see Phoenix, but I feel like they'll get put opposite of someone I'd rather see more. Arcade Fire is going to be excellent, but if my detective work is correct, they'll be playing opposite Soundgarden on Sunday night, according to their respective websites and tour dates. This is just heartbreaking, but there is no way that I'm not seeing Cornell again, especially not knowing if I'll ever get another chance to see him. I saw Audioslave at the touring Lolla in 2004 in Milwaukee and again a couple years later at the Rave, two years ago I survived a Rage Against the Machine mosh pit at Lollapalooza, and this year I'll get to see Soundgarden, needless to say I'm excited.

Other acts I'm looking forward to include:
The Walkmen
Wolfmother
Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros
The Black Keys
MGMT
The National
Spoon
Grizzly Bear

I've been downloading some bands that are going to be there, and haven't really been impressed with either Hot Chip or Cut Copy, both are alright, same goes for Yeasayer. Not really grabbing me like I would like it to. Nevertheless I'm excited for Lollapalooza.

Okay, prediction time!

1. Iron Man 2 will be utterly disappointing compared to the first. My theory is that whenever a film of that scale is over advertised it is a clear sign that it isn't going to be good, and they're hoping to get everyone to the theater the opening weekend before word of mouth gets out. (See: Fantastic Four 1 or 2, or even Spider-Man 3, which I'm biased towards, but understand the gripe it receives)
Note: I'll still be going to see it opening weekend. Love me some comic book movies.

2. The Detroit Lions finish the season with more than six wins. What an off season and draft. If they can stay healthy and move forward, they'll win some games.

3. Tim Tebow is the most expensive seat filler, jersey seller, PR save ever bought, and in the first round nonetheless. Somebody had to have baited the Broncos into that reach.

4. 80/35 will continue to grow, I hope!
